Hair Cut

I got my hair cut today. First time in a long time that I actually picked a picture out of a magazine and didn't just get a trim. It feels weird to have bangs and lots of layers, but I'm getting used to it and I think it looks cute.

Bananarama

Every week I give Pepsi a bath and she absolutely hates it. She stands so still, but the sorrow in her eyes is so pathetic. So I try to cheer her up by giving her yummy smelling shampoo. But I was out of my normal shampoo, so I had to use her icky dog shampoo that doesn't smell at all--which leaves her smelling like a wet dog. So I decided to try a little conditioner on her. Not only does she feel super dooper soft, but she also smells like bananarama!! I'm hoping that it will help keep her wirey hair less tangly.

...It seems like she has recovered from her bath because she is running in circles around the coffee table like a maniac, only stopping for quick laps of water and to chase a frightened cat back up the cat tree (where they so obviously belong).

From the Heavens...

Last night it thundered. It rarely thunders in Alaska--I think it's the first time I've heard it up here. And it was awesome--loud and rumbly, the kind you can feel roll inside you.

Eeewwwwww!!

So our basement flooded today. And not just a time-consuming pipe burst. It was backed up sewage! What really upsets me is how long it took them to get someone out to fix it--especially considering that any time someone in the entire building used water, it ended up in my basement. I ended up having to throw out a few boxes of old clothes (that I am probably never going to fit in again anyways) and frantically throwing everything to the other side of the basement. It took five guys to figure out what was wrong and clean it up, but get this--they were not allowed to touch any of my personal property, so they just stood and watched as I lugged everything around. I guess they put down some pretty potent cleaner so it's fine, but it still makes my skin shiver as I walk on the floor (and now I wear flip-flops).

That's Anaphyantastic!!!

So I'm anaphynatically (??) allergic to something... I popped a couple handfuls of sunflower seeds yesterday afternoon and within a minute my throat had swollen up so badly that I was struggling to wheeze and cough. I tried to tough it out for about the first hour or so before one of my neighbors noticed me sitting outside with hives, struggling for life. Fortunately (I guess), she also has a severe food allergy and had a nebulizer treatment on hand. I was completely fine within three hours, but entirely spent--I slept soundly for ten hours last night! So today I went to an urgent care clinic and my doctor was a real idiot!! He gave me three epipens and said that by the third one, I should really have the allergy narrowed down *forehead slap*. When I asked about getting an allgergy grid done, he said he'd put in a referral, but suggested I not eat anything until after I get the results back *forehead slap again*. So now I pretty much hold an epipen to my thigh every time I eat. Well, it's a pretty inexpensive diet...

Worn Out...

Well, I started nannying for one of my friends today. I watch them over at my house cuz Daddy comes home a few times a day and it just seems like it will be easier if the kids aren't constantly watching him come and go. I really enjoy watching them here because I can get stuff done around the house while they are sleeping or oherwise occupide and keep an eye on Pepsi as well. But my house isn't very kid friendly. I sent up the (old school) nintendo in our spare bedroom, but that's kind of all I have. =( And, of course, it was rainy today so we were kind of stuck. Hopefully tomorrow they will bring more toys with them. I'm going to bed early tonight...
